Overview of Curriculum

Understanding Yoga Asana – You really know a Yoga pose and can teach a Yoga pose when you understand it, how it should be done from an anatomical point of view, what the physiological benefits of the pose are, and how the pose affects the meditative state.

Pranayama of the Yoga Masters – I look forward to sharing with you the powerful Yogic breathing exercises that were taught to me my teachers.

Hands on Yoga Anatomy – If you want to perfectly understand a Yoga pose, you need to perfectly understand the physical anatomical structure of the body that is doing it. Anatomy is an important part of this course as our bodies are our primary tools in the practice of Yoga.

Philosophy of Yoga – Pattabhi Jois once famously said that Yoga is 95% practice and 5% theory. The Yogic texts help us understand what is happening in our minds and thoughts, not only as we do our physical Yoga practice, but also as we go about our daily lives. These texts holds the keys to focus and calm our minds so that we can experience more of what Yoga has to offer.

“Know thyself” with Ayurveda – The practical science of Ayurveda teaches us to discover the different phases we go through at different times of the day and how to use this knowledge to improve our health, creativity and productivity as well as how to cope with anger, anxieties and other emotions.

Teaching Beginners and students with injuries – And then how to progress students from their first standing pose to advanced inversions.

Correct Yoga Posture Sequencing – When a student comes to you to learn Yoga, they’re putting a lot of trust and faith in you. Students put their practice in your hands, hoping to progress physically, get stronger, more flexible and overcome fears. Students rely on you to not allow them to plateau, get injured or get the feeling that they are not progressing. Correct Sequencing will allow you to build powerful sequences that heal injuries, build confidence in tricky postures and improve strength and flexibility.

Sanskrit for Yoga – Functional knowledge of the history, structure and literature of this beautiful language will enrich your experience of Yoga.
